After the handover
of Hong Kong on
July 1, 1997, the
crown was replaced
by the Hong Kong
Education Department icon - an "open book".
In early 2003, a
reorganization of HK
Government
subordinated the
Education Department to the Education and Manpower Bureau, hence the disappearance of the
"open book" icon.
